To be a thriving church in Central Australia where people connect, grow and serve together to see lives flourish, leaders raised and communities influenced with our message of hope in Christ.
We see a church where all find a sense of belonging, contribution, life-giving community and ownership. We gather in circles and rows. Rows connect us to God and mission (services and events). Circles connect us together and on purpose (connect groups, departments, social gatherings, friendships, serve teams). We aren’t just a crowd; we’re a family.
We see a church where people develop and mature in awareness, identity and ability. We grow through mentoring and discipleship, as well as training, short courses, recovery ministry pathways and service/leadership experience.
We see a church that serves others. We cultivate our calling and gifts in worship, rest and play. We model, empower and teach as we connect with our wider community. We serve in and out of the Church. We believe “ministry” is for all and our job is to encourage each other as we meet needs and heal hurts of our immediate and extended communities.
We see a church where people are empowered to live abundant lives. Our concrete initiatives help people flourish as they deepen their knowledge and awareness of the barriers and opportunities to living a free, large and full life.
We see a church that raises up leaders who model a life of service, integrity and commitment. Our leaders, whether staff or volunteer, carry the vision, invite others along and expand our influence. They motivate and mobilise. They reproduce in others. We believe every person can find a place to lead.
We see a church filled with excellence, connection and trust. We build healthy relationships, resulting in a unified voice, which moves our communities for the greater good. Together we reconcile physical, spiritual and emotional hurts. Our mission is one of relational Kingdom influence both locally and globally. We want to have an effect—to make a difference in the world.
What we Believe
We believe the life of the community becomes a vehicle for flourishing – in all that you do. Click below to better understand what we believe about God, the bible and our ultimate salvation.
We have one primary campus for worship and gathering on Undoolya Road. The Kidman Street facility is used by our indigenous community for events other than worship.

Partnered with Hope Centre
For more than 40 years Desert Life Church has shared the gospel from Australia’s Red Centre, Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. In 2016 Desert Life Church also became a Hope Centre. We have a strategic alliance and kingdom partnership with Hope Centre International. Our church, and our Lead Pastor, Ben Teefy, who lives and resides in Alice Springs, come under the direct oversight of the Senior Pastors, Lyn and Wayne Alcorn, of Hope Centre, as part of the Hope Centre family. Together our kingdom partnership sees a fusion of ministry, vision and resources which strengthens both churches, to see more effective ministry in Central Australia and beyond. Our church and our Pastoral team are affiliated with the Australian Christian Churches, one of Australia’s largest Christian movements which is seeing explosive growth across our land. Ps Wayne is also the national president of the Australian Christian Churches.
